Summary: Nasiba Nurmatova ’11 together with seven other FLEX and local volunteers organized a camp on May 28-31 for 70 students from low-income households to teach them about community issues and work with them on developing activities to improve the situations in their communities.  The camp organizers held sessions on environmental awareness, social responsibility, volunteerism, diversity, and educational opportunities in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. Campers had an opportunity to participate and take active role in discussions and developed team building, networking, and communication skills.  The closing of the camp included a concert where the children had the opportunity to share the information that they learned at the camp with community members.
