1Choosing your future career is one of the most important decisions in life. As bad luck would have it, it is also one of the most difficult. To make the decision-making less stressful and to promote community service among young people, Rakhat Sagynbek kyzy organized a two-day training for 35 high-school graduates from local schools in Isfana.

The focus of the first day was professional orientation and higher education. Rakhat Sagynbek kyzy together with three other FLEX 3alumni met students at the local administration office which provided a conference room for the event whilst the public fund ‘Insan-Leilek’ lent all the necessary equipment. Over the course of the day students discussed how to make a career choice with a low risk of being unemployed, manage your university expenses and combine successful academic life with other activities.  Special emphasis was placed on the importance of volunteering: the alumni introduced participants to the concept of GYSD and talked about the impact it has on the community.  To give students a chance to express their concerns and address specific issues, a big part of the day was dedicated to QnA session.  Additionally, brochures about successful local graduates were handed out.

2On the following day participants gathered in a local youth garden where they collected garbage and played sports games during breaks. To add a competitive edge to their work, they split into four teams competing to fill the most garbage bags.  Besides being fun, the event also showed students that many community service activities could be organized on a budget or without any expenses at all.
